Organizers of Pinoy Pride Vancouver began meeting shortly after the Vancouver Pride Parade last year and had their official "coming out" party in May 2011. The group''s mandate is to celebrate the triumphs and achievements of its members and encourage every Filipino-Canadian to be proud of their heritage. The group wants to show the mainstream Canadian society that the Pinoys (slang for Filipino) in Canada embrace diversity. Collaboration is the group's mantra with the Pinoy Pride Vancouver promoting LGBTQ understanding and acceptance in British Columbia's Filipino-Canadian community. {{From|http://www.gayvancouver.net/community-profile/pinoy-pride-vancouver}}
